JSW Steel focusing on domestic demand

Reuters cited Mr Sajan Jindal vice chairman & MD of JSW Steel as saying that it hopes to improve its operating margin in FY 2010 to USD 150 a tonne from USD 118 in the June quarter as input costs fall, on higher product mix and focus on Indian retail markets.

Mr Jindal said "We have internally changed our own strategy. Focus continues on domestic, even if the global demand improves tomorrow.”

He added that “That is why we are investing large amounts of money in setting up our retail outlets. Our aim is we would eventually be 85% domestic and 15% international."
