POSCO IDPC aims to process 9,000 tonnes of steel per month

POSCO IDPC has celebrated its achievement of successfully processing 8,000 tonnes of steel a month on July 2nd 2009 and pledged to reach its goal of producing 9,000 tonnes of steel per month by the end of 2009.

Since the company achieved its production goal of 5,000 tonnes in December 2008, the number reached 7,829 tonnes in March 2009, which was a record high for the company. It quickly added more processing capability in just 3 months to process 8,022 tonnes of steel, setting yet another new record.

When the POSCO IDPC started operating its plant in 2008, the sales of steel to Maruti Suzuki accounted for 60% of its total sales. However, it has added more than 140 new client firms since then. The increased production resulted from a boost in sales to one of its major clients, Maruti Suzuki, thanks in part to the ongoing Indian economic recovery. POSCO IDPC's aggressive marketing strategy to secure a larger market share also played a part.

POSCO IDPC specializes in processing steel sheets for automobiles. Instead of simply processing and selling steel, the company aims to build a supply chain that can provide quality sheets. It has recently tried to construct an advanced supply channel, such as building a JIT system with Hero Honda.
