TATA Steel Jamshedpur expansion to be completed by March 2011

Projects Today reported that TATA Steel is likely to complete the expansion of its production facility at Jamshedpur in Jharkhand by end March 2011 as per the schedule.

According to report, it is planning to augment its production capacity of steel from 6.8 million tonne per annum to 10 million tonne per annum at Jamshedpur at an investment of INR 12,000 crore.

Besides, TATA Steel is planning to set up mega steel plants in Jharkhand, Orissa and Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile, it has set a target of saving nearly INR 2,000 crore in the current fiscal by cutting cost in its Indian operations through adopting efficient working practices, increasing output and doing aggressive sales and marketing.
