The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during the period from September 1st to September 10th 2009 were INR 2160.00 crore compared to INR 1948.08 crore during the same period last year registering an increase of 10.88%.
The total goods earnings have gone up from INR 1354.16 crore during the period from September 1st to September 10th 2008 to INR 1458.59 crore during September 1st to September 10th 2009 showing an increase of 7.71%. The total passenger revenue earnings during the period September 1st to September 10th 2009 were INR 625.28 crore compared to INR 530.68 crore during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 17.83%. The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to INR 59.63 crore during this period compared to INR 40.63 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 46.76 per cent.
The total approximate number of passengers booked during the period September 1st to September 10th 2009 were 208.36 million compared to 199.81 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 4.28%. In the suburban and non suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during September 1st to September 10th 2009 were 115.05 million and 93.31 million as compared to 110.94 million and 88.87 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 3.70% and 5% respectively.
