Mr Patnaik optimistic over industrialization in Orissa

Mr Naveen Patnaik chief minister of Orissa said that issues relating to land acquisition for setting up major projects would be resolved soon.

Mr Patnaik told reporters ‘I am optimistic of a peaceful industrial revolution in the state.”

He added that the required land for respective projects would be acquired in a peaceful manner.

Mr Patnaik said that reason of delay in implementation of the projects was mostly attributed to non availability of land in the face of law and order problems.

It is to be mentioned here that during the review meeting of the 14 mega projects by the industry and steel and mines minister Mr Raghunath Mohanty two days back, most of the industrial houses complained that they were unable to take over the lands physically. These 14 companies have a combined land requirement of 45,607 acres of which less than one-third 14,131.9 acres have been acquired.

Of the 13 mega projects with proposal of INR 2,00,653.80 crore investment in the state, only four have progressed well while others including POSOC India’s INR 51,000 crore project, ArcelorMittal’s INR 40,000 crore plan and TATA Steel’s INR 18,700 crore project, made tardy progress.
