BS reported that Steel Authority of India Limited is planning to get up a steel processing unit in Himachal Pradesh.
Mr Virbhadra Singh steel minister said “There is sufficient power in Himachal Pradesh and SAIL will consider setting up a steel processing unit there. He said the ministry would review the status of the processing units facing acute shortage of power.”
Mr Singh said “SAIL is a very strong company and had a sound balance sheet. As far as recession is concerned, the steel sector has not been hurt that bad.”
In the last tenure, the United Progressive Alliance government had laid foundation stones for setting up about half a dozen steel processing units in different parts of the country.
