TECOM USD 300 million Malta project set to open in October

SmartCity Malta one of Dubai based TECOM Investment's flagship international projects is set to welcome its first tenants by the middle of September.

Mr Fareed Abdul Rahman CEO of TECOM did not name the companies but said that contracts had been finalized for them to move into the USD 300 million ICT hubs which are based on Dubai Internet City.

Mr Rahman said that we expect the first tenants to start operating by mid September and the beginning of October. He added that the company's marketing efforts were ongoing in several countries including Japan, Korea, Egypt and China.

Mr Austin Gatt infrastructure minister of Malta said that the announcement quashed earlier reports speculating that construction had slowed down at the project site.

Mr Rahman told reporters that by October the main road leading to the first office block would be ready, including landscaping on its sides. The Phase II would see other office, retail and residential blocks going up around the central lagoon.
