Krishnapatnam Port wins best non major port award

Krishnapatnam Port the world class port on the Indian horizon took the top honors in the Non Major Port category at the prestigious mega comprehensive logistics and maritime event South East CEO Conclave & Awards 2009 held for the first time on August 28th 2009 at the sprawling Taj Coromandel in Chennai.

The spectacular event was managed and organized by Exim India Shipping Times & Fairplay Exposition Group and supported by leading trade bodies. The gala event brings together the region’s key logistics and maritime industry players who were recognized as they set benchmarks for performance excellence. The awards also recognized the industry’s best practices and stellar performers who have made an impact on the South East India’s logistics & maritime industry through their valuable contributions.

The Non-Major Port category award was judged on specific criteria like Operational Performance, Infrastructure Development & Customer Satisfaction which is rightly what Krishnapatnam Port is all about

The Port has just completed one year of its operations but its growth has been exponential due to which it has carved a niche in the business circle around the world. This is possible because of the port’s belief in providing a very high standard of service to all its customers.

Mr Anil Yendluri CEO of Krishnapatnam Port attributed the success to the port’s continuous investment and commitment to its customers goals and objectives. He opines that it is their customers’ outlook that encourages them to set higher benchmarks and achieve newer milestones. He added that the port with its own modern infrastructure, latest equipment and facilities makes it possible in providing and sustaining the benefit for importers and exporters.

Mr Yendluri said that currently in its second phase of development, it will be designed to serve as one of the biggest ports in the world. Its master plan includes 42 berths with a total Quay length of 12.5 kilometers and draft of 20 meters, capable of handling 200,000 DWT super capesize vessels. It has a huge back up area of 6500 acres for transit storage that will house a dedicated container terminal, an import hub port for coal for the 14000 MW power projects coming up in its vicinity, an export hub port for iron ore along with the capacity to handle fertilizers, petrochemicals, break bulk cargo, project cargo and automobiles. It will also have shipbuilding & repairing facilities along with world class bunkering, rig repairing and offshore facilities.
