Record power generation from Nathpa Jhakri

India’s largest 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station of public sector undertaking Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd has surpassed generation of 5000 million units of electricity on September 21st 2009. This record power generation has been achieved 15 days ahead as compared to last year.

According to SJVNL, this record generation is due to excellent management of silt, water and machines both in terms of operation and maintenance of this prestigious Hydro Power Station.

The Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station is designed to generate 6612 million units of electrical energy in a 90% dependable year. It is also providing 1500 MW of valuable power to the Northern Grid; Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh.

Himachal Pradesh, as an equity partner, gets 25% of the electricity generated at bus bar rates and another 12% free of cost from this Hydro Power Station.
