Railways minister plan on facelift of New Delhi station

The Union Ministry of Railways has decided to give the New Delhi Railway Station structure a facelift, modernize passenger amenities and upgrade railway platforms instead of going ahead with the plan to make it a world class station.

The ministry has decided to let the world class station project wait for a year as it has been delayed and will not be ready in time for the Commonwealth Games.

It has appointed the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad to conduct a study of world class stations and provide recommendations. This will ensure that the railways do not face the same kind of difficulties that it has faced with the New Delhi Station project. Apart from the New Delhi station, the railways are planning to turn over a dozen stations into world class stations.
