The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during April 1st to August 31st 2009 were INR 34280.81 crore compared to INR 32313.85 crore during the same period last year registering an increase of 6.09%.
The total goods earnings have gone up from INR 22026.54 crore during April 1st to August 31st 2008 to INR 23124.58 crore during April 1st to August 31st 2009 an increase of 4.99%.
The total passenger revenue earnings during first five months of the financial year 2009-10 were INR 9716.06 crore compared to INR 9054.71 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 7.30%.
The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to INR 935.84 crore during April to August 2009 as compared to INR 813.95 crore during the same period last year an increase of 14.98%.
The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during April to August 2009 were 3074.97 million as compared to 2939.95 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 4.59%. In the suburban and non suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during April to August 2009 were 1565.36 million and 1509.61 million as compared to 1556.91 million and 1383.04 million during the same period last year, an increase of 0.54% and 9.15% respectively.
