BL reported that the long awaited Assam Gas cracker project envisaged in the historic Assam Accord, formed after the bloody anti foreigners agitation spearheaded by the All Assam Students Union will be commissioned in April 2012.
Mr BC Tripathi chairman of the project named as the Brahmaputra Cracker and Ploymer Ltd said that “Various activities of the project have been compressed so as to achieve mechanical completion as well as commissioning of the plant as envisaged before.”
Mr Tripathi at a press conference after the annual general meeting said that “The progress of this prestigious project is being monitored at the highest level, considering its direct and indirect socio economic benefits, it would generate opportunities for the people of North East.”
Mr Tripathi further added that “BCPL will try to create downstream market for the products with the support of the Assam Government. The per capita consumption of polymers in the N-E region which is low will also increase.”
