The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during April 1st to October 31st 2009 were INR 48322.23 crore compared to INR 44614.15 crore during the same period last year registering an increase of 8.31%.
The total goods earnings have gone up from INR 30197.30 crore during April 1st to October 31st 2008 to INR 32452.79 crore during April 1st to October 31st 2009 an increase of 7.47%.
The total passenger revenue earnings during first seven months of the financial year 2009-10 were INR 13626.74 crore compared to INR 12575.06 crore during the same period last year registering an increase of 8.36%.
The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to INR 1317.72 crore during April 1st to October 31st 2009 compared to INR 1127.54 crore during the same period last year an increase of 16.87%.
The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during April 1st to October 31st 2009 were 4318.23 million compared to 4119.89 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 4.81%. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during April 1st to October 31st 2009 were 2216.08 million and 2102.15 million compared to 2193.73 million and 1926.16 million during the same period last year, an increase of 1.02% and 9.14% respectively.
