The JV of Toshiba-JSW is likely to begin work on its INR 1,000 crore power plant equipment manufacturing unit in Chennai by December 2009. as per report Toshiba Corporation of Japan holds 75% in the JV and the remaining 25% is with JSW Group.
The project envisages setting up a plant which will manufacture steam turbines and generators for thermal power plants with a total capacity to generate 3,000 MW. Phase I of the plant which is likely to produce only turbine blades is expected to be operational by 2011. Phase II is likely to complete in 2012.
